Requesting Archival Materials from the Library for the Performing Arts

Special Collections Copy Requests

For research purposes, requests for electronic document delivery of special collections materials held on-site can be made through Library for the Performing Arts’ document request form.

Make A Request

A library staff member will respond to your request within 5 business days, and duplication may take a further 15 business days. All material must be reviewed for condition and copyright status before access can be granted. Not all materials can be copied, due to size or condition, and some requests may require special handling or digital photography at an additional cost. You will be contacted if your request requires special considerations or fees.

For Special Collection materials, a maximum of 25 pages may be copied per order.  Requests submitted for multiple orders from the same collection will be reviewed by collections staff before proceeding

For Special Collections held off-site, copy requests are not currently available.  We anticipate the restoration of this service soon.

Identifying Offsite Collections

In order to provide space for growing collections, the NYPL Research Libraries are housing materials at several offsite facilities.

Material is identified in the online catalog by the location "OFFSITE – Request in advance for use at Performing Arts" or "OFFSITE Rose - Request in advance for use at Performing Arts."

Please note that materials held by the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive (TOFT) must be requested directly through TOFT. Please also note that materials held by the Reserve Film and Video Collection (RFVC) must be requested directly through RFVC.
