Current Volunteer Opportunities:

DOCENT - Stephen A. Schwarzman Building

Do you love history, architecture and the written word? Do you enjoy meeting and speaking to people from all over the world? Are you curious and have a passion for learning? Are you bilingual? Do you have 2 to 3 hours to give at least once each week? If so, please consider becoming an NYPL docent.

Docents give weekly 1 hour tours of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building and tours of our exhibitions. You must be an adult, or a college student pursuing an MLIS, History, Architecture or a Museum Studies degree. You must be fluent in a language other than English. This volunteer opportunity requires a substantial time commitment, study and the ability to pass an oral exam. This opportunity is for weekdays only. All openings for evenings and weekends have been filled. If you are interested, please contact volunteer@nypl.org and include a statement on why you wish to become an NYPL docent.

KNIT or CROCHET TUTOR - Tremont Library

Are you experienced at knitting or crocheting? Would you like to share your enthusiasm with others? Tremont Library would love to have a volunteer-led program twice a month on Thursdays from 2pm to 3pm. (Other times are possible.) Please email volunteer@nypl.org if you are interested in volunteering. Tell us why and include an example of your knitting skills. Thank you.

KNIT or CROCHET TUTOR - Eastchester Library

Are you experienced at knitting or crocheting? Would you like to share your enthusiasm with others? Eastchester Library would love to have a volunteer-led program twice a month on Thursdays from 11am to 12pm. Please email volunteer@nypl.org if you are interested in volunteering. Tell us why and include an example of your knitting skills. Thank you.

ADULT CRAFT VOLUNTEER - Morris Park

Are you experienced at crafts for adults? Would you like to share your enthusiasm with others? Morris Park Library would love to have a volunteer-led program once a week, twice a month or even once each month on Mondays or Tuesdays from 11am to12pm. Jewelry-making or other crafts for adults would be appropriate. Please email volunteer@nypl.org if you are interested in volunteering.
