The New York Public Library Names Richard Cohen to its Board of Trustees

March 8, 2017 -- The New York Public Library's Board of Trustees elected Richard Cohen as its newest member at its meeting today. His tenure begins immediately. 

"Richard is a well-respected philanthropist and leader whose real estate expertise will help guide the Library’s efforts to expand our system and make much-needed capital improvements to our existing locations," said NYPL Board of Trustees Chairman Evan Chesler. "We look forward to Richard's contributions going forward."

Cohen is the Founder and Chairman of Capital Properties, which has acquired, managed and developed condominiums, apartment units, and office space in 14 different states. Capital Properties has offices in New York, Boston and Washington DC. He is a Trustee of Boston University, a member of the Executive and Investment Committees, and Chairs the Real Estate Committee and Governance Committee. Cohen is also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at Boston University’s School of Management. He is a member of the Yale School of Architecture Dean’s Council and of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute Board of Advisors at Harvard.
